Things to Know

CommunityViz is a well established application and we endeavor to maintain the highest levels of quality in its operation and functionality. Like any application, though, there are some things to know about how it does and does not work. You may want to review the following list before you start using CommunityViz for the first time.

List of Known Issues

  1. Use of internet "map services" within ArcMap, such as connecting to a live map via Geography Network, is not supported in a Scenario 360 analysis, but internet "feature services" are supported.
  2. After installing Scenario 360, an existing analysis (such as a tutorial) may not open. This is usually remedied by creating a new empty analysis:

    1. Open Scenario 360.
    2. From the welcome screen choose Create New Analysis.
    3. In the New Analysis Wizard choose Create New Empty Analysis.
    4. Accept defaults in the windows that come up.
    5. After te new analysis is created, save it and then choose Analysis>Open from the Scenario 360 menu.
  3. When working with a Scenario 360 Analysis in ArcScene, do not move layers in to or out of group layers. The ?Confirm Layer Delete' dialog will appear, and your analysis will become unstable regardless of what you choose. If this happens, close ArcScene without saving the document. Group layers in ArcMap do not cause problems.
  4. If you create a symbol with multiple layers (i.e. a line symbol with an outline) in ArcMap and then attempt to open your analysis in ArcScene, the ArcScene application will freeze. If you want to view your analysis in ArcScene, do not use any layered symbols.
  5. The Google Earth exporter only handles simple polygons. Multipart polygons and polygons with holes may not be exported correctly.
  6. The Google Earth exporter will only allow simple fill symbols for polygon symbology. Multi-layer and picture fill symbols will not be exported.
  7. Attribute tables for rasters cannot be opened when either of the Scenario 360 Table of Contents tabs are active. To view raster attribute tables, activate the Display of Source TOC tabs.
